Being insulin resistant, I have had weight issues since childhood. About 3 years ago I was at my heaviest weight at 90kg. Over time with diet and exercise, I brought the weight down to 66kg. Over the past year the weight has slowly crept up to around 73kg. The main reason is that I cheat on my diet. My workout routine: about an hour of step aerobics done to home videos 5 days a week, resistance training at the gym for about an hour each, 4 days a week and and 1 hour of yoga once a week.

The elliptical is my favorite gym machine and cardiocoach Sean O?Malley guides me through an hour of heart thumping interval training. I do not own a heart rate monitor but I use the ones on the cardio machines.
I am 43 yrs old but years of aerobic training has made me capable of pushing my heart rate during an anaerobic phase to 168/ min and during the aerobic phase to 147/min. This seems to be high for my age but I love the rush I get.
I may miss a weight training session but I almost never miss my aerobic workout. I do a minimum of 60 min of step at home, 5 days a week.
Sometimes I squeeze in an extra session on the elliptical, bike or treadmill at the gym. I do these to cardiocoach or iTRAIN mp3 downloads bought on the net.
My favorite weight machines are the smith machine, the lat row cable machine, the leg press machine and the pec dec machine.
I have tried outdoor jogging but my knees can?t seem to take it.
So I walk outdoors on Sundays [ my day off from heavy work outs ] I walk briskly but do not worry about heart rate on my walks.
I am fairly active but I don?t know how much longer I can keep it up. I am conscious of my advancing age and my knees often remind me that I am no longer in my twenties.
